The impatient commuters soon gathered in front of the door and tried to jostle their way into the bus. Only a few stops from original station, people had been already packed like sardines in this suffocating place. The air stank of sweet, unwashed cloths, and other rank odors. Driver Sun perceived neither of these stinks, for his sense of smell had been dulled after working here 10 hours a day, besides which he had another thing weighing in his mind. The traffic was terrible, and he probable couldn’t manage to get home before his one-year-old son fell asleep. It’s been a week that that he either went out two early or came home too late to be with his little boy while he was awake. He missed out too many things because of this job. A pregnant woman showed up at the door. She hesitated at going into this over crowded bus but the persons behind her got impatient and pushed her going aboard. “Please offer your seat to this pregnant woman.” Sun spoke aloud out of the routines. The persons who sit next to door decided to ignore his words. Some of them turned their heads to the window, and some of them were timely dozing off. “Could you please offer your seat to her?” Sun raised his voice. The morality could be put in perspective for this moment. Embarrassed to create such a scene, the pregnant woman thanked Sun with a shy smile and struggled to find a place to set her feet on. With a sign, Bus 406 lunched forward to the next stop. A few minutes later, something happened and the bus was thrown into a complete tumult. That pregnant woman passed out! One of the passengers finally offered his seat and helped her to sit down. She still went deathly pale and no one knew what to do next. Sun realized that he had to make a decision. Slowing down the bus, he spoke to the passengers: “We have to send her to the hospital.” A man showed his disapproval immediately. He went forward and shouted to Sun: “I have an emergency to deal with, and you have to send me to my destination!” Sun answered: “I can drop you at the next stop. But we can’t leave her like that!” There is finality about his voice, and that man backed off with some murbles of "i've paid the ticket". Turned around, Bus 406 was driving directly to the hospital.
