The EU SME Centre functions as a Support Service Provider for European SMEs. Specifically, the Centre assists SMEs to establish, develop and maintain commercial activities in the Chinese market – through export and/or investment – by providing support through inter alia the provision of information, matchmaking and networking events and acting as a platform facilitating coordination amongst Member State services and private sector service providers to European SMEs, particularly at the crucial early stages of their market penetration strategy.3 p! o$ B8 i9 q; h0 F& i7 T. The EU SME Centre is operated by a consortium of European Chambers of Commerce, led by the China-Britain Business Council and includes the Benelux, French, German, Italian and Spanish Chambers in Beijing, as well as the European Union Chamber of Commerce in China and Euro Chambers. . n% a# S8 m3 m2 ? The Centre is now looking for a “Project Manager - Legal” for its office in Beijing. o( I& N" ~0 _, C! U

The Project Manager will be reporting directly to the Legal Expert and will be involved in:% G/ S4 \5 P* @5 e! k& ]
- Establishment and maintenance of knowledge products on legal questions such as guides, reference papers, and databases on legal issues relevant to European SMEs;
' I8 X- E8 \+ O& ?; T- Organisation of training courses, seminars, workshops; and
2 n( v* i! R% t% V$ Y: c0 O- Handling of daily inquiries from the European SMEs.
! \/ q% B6 v6 g d: V* ]5 l K* {9 J/ F# [, O: ~+ A/ B/ ?
Qualifications and skills:1 f. m' ~- s- H7 E4 J$ n
1. Excellent understanding of China’s legal environment for business, particularly from the perspective of challenges faced by foreign companies investing in China and exporting to China;' F! H) j0 n7 Q) ^5 @1 v% a! a
2. Ability to work independently and to analyse and report clearly on complex legal and regulatory issues;/ j/ f/ _7 [6 b9 @! Z/ w6 a
3. At least three years legal working experience in China, in particular with regard to Chinese company law, commercial law, labour law, customs law or taxation law;
8 a6 w J2 b1 x4. Graduation from a Chinese University with academic degree in law; an advanced international law degree would be a plus
; a; a+ v; [' R3 x, s) N5. Good communication skills, working languages will be primarily English and Chinese;
% x! ^' f: d5 a4 D7 `6. Ability to work effectively in a international team;
; L+ ~6 I/ f+ X( C; C& p% S7. Experience in providing legal advice to SMEs an asset;$ g& b, ]5 l5 }* ~1 I3 X; x$ M
8. Proficiency (spoken and written) in another European language would be an advantage.4 f2 J' k- H+ L( q6 v6 f( z
